Board Member since 2020
Lisa joined the SNHSA Board in 2019 and was the Treasurer from 2021 through 2022. Lisa’s goals are to assist with the promotion of quality, local Hunter/Jumper shows that engage horse enthusiasts of all ages. She hopes to make a positive difference!
Lisa has a Bachelor of Science in business degree, and a Master’s degree in exercise science from University of Nevada, Reno. She also has a Master’s in business administration, finance, and an Associate’s degree in fire science from TMCC.
A second generation Renoite, Lisa has been a Marketplace Chaplain for two years, Sierra Nevada Fire Chaplain for four years, on the RFD Peer Support Team for six years and is a retired firefighter/EMT-I after 20 years of service. Lisa has also been a Reno Rodeo member for more than 30 years.
Lisa never ceases to surprise us. She created the fitness/physical agility program for TMCC’s fire academy and earned a black belt in Tae Kwan Do. But she says her biggest accomplishment “was raising my children to be compassionate, responsible, engaging adults.”
We have all seen Lisa at the local SNHSA shows, but Lisa has been riding since she was 11 years old.
“When I was in first grade, I dreamt about owning and riding a white horse. When I was 11, my parents bought Sonny for me, a flea bitten gray who was the answer to my dreams. I have been a horse crazy girl for as long as I can remember!”
Her favorite memories include competing on the World Show stage, both with AQHA and the affiliate division of USHJA. She used to show in “all around” events such as Showmanship, Trail, Horsemanship, Western Riding and more. “I’ve always loved the rodeo, too!”
“Shine your light, take life in stride and enjoy the ride!
